On the Island of St. Maarten the airport is next to Maho Beach. So when planes land, they come very close to the beach and if you're in the right place at the right time, you can get blown over from the engine blast! How great is that!?

Great painting Cindy.I did see videos and I believe it was from very same place and it was great to see these huge airplane bodies flying few yards above the water and the beach...I got here from your remark to add pirate to Dans painting...had to look if you like pirates or at least islands and beaches.

I was there in Nov. just after the hurricane and there was NO sand on the beach anymore! Just rocks. Sand is weird that way... comes and goes. There wasn't any sand on Cupecoy either, then a couple of weeks later, it all came back.

I wouldn't normal put a plane in either but it's part of the charm of this area and flying into SXM. Every photo you see of the beach has a plane landing in it. At some point during my next visit, you will find me standing underneath a plane taking a picture!
