Based in the Dallas, Texas, Katrina Rasmussen is an artist, dancer, and teacher. Rasmussen's works brim with vivid lyricism, reflecting the constant movement that is central to her life. Katrina Rasmussen's urban scenes and cityscapes evoke the unique mood and culture of each subject that she paints. Many of Rasmussen's subjects are taken from Dallas, and celebrate the city's blossoming local culture. Particularly interested in context, subtext and symbolism, Rasmussen employs site-specific iconography in her urban scenes. The artist's goal is to present the viewer with what Rasmussen sees as the soul of the city; a living, breathing painting that invites the audience to explore everyday places in a deeply personal way.
